Dog Walking FAQS

All prospective clients have questions which they ask us, and to fast forward things, here are a list of FAQS which we have previously been asked.

Q: How many dogs are you insured to walk at once?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services are insured to walk up to 6 dogs at once and when doing so, the dogs are evaluated into a group for size, temperament and length of walk required. Being taken on group walks is a brilliant way of further socialization, as well as making friends and playing.
Q: Do you do individual walks?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services do walk individual dogs on a one to one basis, or if you have more than one dog and they are used to being walked together, then they can go out together on their own.

Q: Can I tell you what time I want my dog walked?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services do try and accommodate people’s wishes regarding times, but sometimes there are delays due to traffic or an unforeseen circumstance with a previous client.

Q: Can I tell you how long I want my dog walked for?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services tailor make the times of walks for the client, although we have set prices for 30 minute, and 60 minute walk. If you are interested in walks which are shorter, or longer, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Q: Where will you walk my dog?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services walk dogs around a variety of areas including parks, woods, beaches, fields etc. If your dog has a favourite walk around your area, we are happy to walk him/her there. We also do pavement walking where your dog can be introduced to cars, lorries, tractors, pushchairs and a variety of people whilst out. Wherever we take your dog, we will always make sure it is in a safe environment and somewhere interesting for your dog.

Q: My dog is scared/nervous around other dogs, will you still walk him/her?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services will walk scared or nervous dogs under the understanding from the owner that they will provide the adequate equipment (leads, collars, muzzles etc) to keep both the walker, your dog, and other dogs safe. If this is the case, your dog will be walked on quiet solo pavement walks instead of parks etc, as this minimize the stress for your dog.

Q: Should I be home when you collect my dog for a walk?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services are insured for key handling. Most of our clients have given us keys for their properties so even if they are at work, ill, or have gone shopping, they have peace of mind that their dog will still be walked. Keys are tagged and stored in a key box under lock and key. This is optional and completely down to the individual client.

Q: Do you work on holidays?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services do work on holidays including Bank Holidays, over the Christmas and New Year period, but we charge double time on these occasions.
Q: Does my dog need up to date on vaccinations?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services do require your animals to be up to date on all vaccinations to prevent illness and spread of diseases.
Q: I only want one off walks, is this okay?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services are available for one off walks, but a home visit will still need to be conducted if this is the case.

Q: What happens once I decide I want to book with your company?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services will conduct a home visit in your animal’s environment. This is where we can meet you and your animals, and you can meet us. We will bring the necessary contracts, our CRB checks, Animal 1st Aid Certificate, and insurance policies. This is where you can ask us any questions or queries regarding the service provided and vice versa.

Q: Are you all insured?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services are fully insured- Public Liability Cover up to £3,000,000, and Products Liability Cover up to £3,000,000. We are insured for dog walking & dog, cat, small domestic (non DWA) pet minding including horses, donkeys & domesticated farm animals. House Sitting and to be a Pet Taxi (excluding human passangers) and for keys/replacement locks.

Q: Will I be charged for cancelling your services at short notice?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services do charge cancellation fees if it is at short notice. If a client cancels our services more than 2 weeks before the beginning of the job, they will receive a full refund. If a client cancels our services 1 week before the beginning of the job, they will receive half a refund. If a client cancels our services in less than a week before the beginning of the job, they will not receive a refund.

Q: How do I pay for my walks?
A: Henry's Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services ask for 50% upfront deposit at the initial home visit, and the balance to be paid on completion of the job. If you make a block booking for a week or a month at a time, we will come to an arrangement to suit both parties.

Q: What happens in terrible weather if it begins half way through walking my dogs?
A: Henry’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Services use their own judgement on whether to cut your dog’s walk short due to weather conditions such as torrential rain/flooding, blizzards/heavy snow and ice etc. Dogs would then be bought home, towel dried and the remainder of the walking time will be spend inside either playing with toys and/or cuddles and kisses. Clients are to provide the drying towel.
